Another painting from Kazu Sano's class
My friends and I started a lion dance team a couple of years back when we were still in high school, with no money or anything. We would go around our local Vietnamese stores in San Jose to ask for donations to start a team, and within a month we where able to collect around $800, enough to buy a lion and a drum... and so our team was born! We would hold practices and perform during Chinese or Vietnamese New Years. Sometimes for grand openings of stores or weddings, and all of the money was put back into buying more equipments and lion heads to grow the team. Lion dancing consist of two people dancing underneath a paper mache lion head and a tail. Dancing and expressing different emotions with the lion and sometimes doing difficult jumps.

The Three Bears, an assignment from Ill 2. Learned a lot in this class and had a lot of fun with watercolors.

Getting Started

This one was a in class painting from Figure Painting in Acrylic with Kazu Sano. One of my favorite teachers so far. We had a lot of freedom to paint whatever we felt like in this class as long as it was painted in Acrylic. This class was awesome, I was able to explore different techniques and try out different styles, and was free to make mistakes. Kazu really wanted us to break away from out normal way of painting. He was a great teach and a great artist.

Ok finally made a blog, don't really know how this works yet but always wanted to make one. I guess I'll start off with posting a few old works of mine, just figure things out. The first piece was my first painting done in Corel Painter. Reference was used from the Dark Night but I exaggerated some of the features on the Joker.
